BUILDING BALANCED SOIL ECOSYSTEMS FOR AN ABUNDANT FUTURE

We envision a resilient future where humanity works symbiotically with nature to restore balance to the soil food web, fostering thriving, diverse landscapes, natural carbon capture, and health-promoting, nutrient-dense foods.

ABOUT THE SOIL FOOD WEB

In fertile soil, a diverse community of microorganisms thrives—visible only under a high-powered microscope. This community includes bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and nematodes. A healthy and abundant soil food web provides numerous benefits, such as:

  • Enhancing plant health, nutrition, and productivity.

  • Increasing water infiltration, reducing the need for irrigation.

  • Decreasing or eliminating reliance on expensive inputs.

  • Naturally reducing pest and disease pressures.

  • Promoting new soil formation by breaking down rock and organic material.

Many land management practices degrade soil health, but with the support of microbiology, depleted soils can be rejuvenated. Restoration begins by examining the current conditions of your soil through a microscope assessment. We analyze your compost or soil samples to determine the abundance and diversity of key soil food web organisms.

If these organisms are lacking, we collaborate with you to create a tailored plan to reintroduce these essential plant partners. By utilizing indigenous microorganisms adapted to your region, we help restore the natural systems that balance and revitalize soil health.

SOIL FOOD WEB BIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

A Soil Food Web (SFW) Analysis is performed by a Certified Soil Food Web Lab Technician, using a microscope to view a sample of soil, compost, or liquid (tea or extract), the key organisms are counted, and their respective biomass is determined. The first assessment provides a baseline for the biological populations in a sample. Subsequent testing will show whether management practices are increasing or decreasing the biology in the soil.

RESTORING THE SOIL BEGINS WITH COMPOST

If the Soil Food Web Assessment show a deficiency in any one functional group of organisms, Biologically Complete compost can help bring back these vital plant partners.

Biologically Complete Compost features:

  • All aerobic (high oxygen) organisms in high numbers.

  • Anaerobic (low oxygen) or Facultative (transitional) organism numbers are low.

  • Predatory organisms are present in sufficient quantities to cycle nutrients.

  • Humic and fulvic compounds are being formed.

  • Weed seeds are sterilized and pathogens are killed through thermophilic compost temperatures.

CUSTOM BIO-AMENDMENTS FOR SOIL HEALTH

Making Biological or "Bio-" amendments from high quality compost can efficiently multiply the benefits of soil biology over large areas. Based on the results of the soil food web analysis, customized Bio-amendments are created.

Bio-amendments include:

  • Compost Extracts—contain all the important functional groups of the SFW

  • Compost Teas—boost populations of beneficial bacteria

  • Protozoan Infusion—boosts predator organisms

  • Nematode Extracts—concentrates beneficial nematodes

The same rigourous standards apply for liquid amendments, we return to the microscope to be sure the desired organisms are present and in sufficient numbers to affect a positive change. â€‹

APPLYING AMENDMENTS TO BOOST PLANT HEALTH

Liquid Bio-Amendments concentrate beneficial indigenous microbes for targeted applications.

  • Foliar Spray—Applied directly to plant leaves to promote beneficial microbial colonization and enhance disease resistance.

  • Soil Drench or Ground Soak—Delivered to the soil around plant roots to improve microbial diversity and soil health

  • Deep Root Injection—Extracts are injected into the root zone of trees, shrubs and other perennials

Based on the Soil Food Web Assessment, Bio-amendments are created and applied to the soil as catalyst for change. Applications are timed around key points in the plant life cycle. Follow-up SFW Assessments can validate the effectiveness of the application process.

TANGIBLE RESULTS YOU CAN SEE

Microscope analysis provides tangible proof of the Soil Food Web approach's effectiveness by allowing you to observe and measure changes in microbial populations before and after treatments. Indicators of success include increased diversity, improved ratios of fungi to bacteria, and higher numbers of beneficial organisms. These measurable results correlate with healthier plants, improved soil structure, and enhanced nutrient cycling. Partner with Bright Way Ag. to revitalize your soil, and reap the benefits of a robust soil food web.
